01
The brief

A skills framework is useful only if employees can find and apply what it contains.

I worked on an internal web application for the American Express HR department. The job was to turn a structured skills model into a clear product while working with an existing API and brand system.

02
My work

  • Extended the existing JavaScript API and planned the application architecture.
  • Created the initial wireframes and helped make UI decisions using the Amex Design Language System.
  • Built the frontend application from scratch.
  • Wrote end-to-end tests with Cypress, including custom commands, helpers, and data factories.

03
What I learned

The data model, screen structure, and end-to-end tests all described the same employee workflow. Working on them together made the product easier to keep consistent.
