The opportunity
A GitHub profile shows code, but gives little context about the person and the decisions behind it.
In 2018, Dawid and I created intro. as a configurable portfolio product for developers, with sections for their story, skills, tools, and projects.

From product to OSS
The first version was a commercial static-site generator with ten color variants, JSON configuration, and a working contact form. In 2020 I rebuilt it in Gatsby and released it under the MIT license. The repository has since reached 340 stars and 152 forks.

What followed
The theme was featured in the official Gatsby Newsletter and included by Stackbit in its collection of leading Gatsby themes. Maintaining it also meant writing documentation, handling issues, publishing packages, managing versions, and keeping its configuration easy for other developers to use.
